Comprehensive 2-Day Courses:
Half-Day Workshops:
This two-day introductory course aims to familiarize new users with the core functionalities and extensive tools of IDEA.
Training is hands-on, allowing participants to engage with the software through exercises and case studies using sample data.
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
Ideal for those who have completed Level 1 or have a good understanding of IDEA's functionality.
This two-day course covers advanced topics such as creating complex equations, automating tasks, and applying Benford's Law.
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
A two-day, hands-on course designed for those with little to no programming knowledge,
aiming to acquire skills needed to develop complex applications. Covers fundamental programming
concepts including variables, user input, logic and design, loops, and functions.
The course provides an overview of creating scripts within the IDEAScript environment.
This two-day course introduces experienced users to the fundamentals and advanced topics of workflow automation using IDEAScript macros. IDEAScript is the programming language behind IDEA macros, compatible with Visual Basic used in Excel®, PowerPoint®, Word®, Access®, and other Microsoft® Office® applications.
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
A one-day course ideal for those who have completed Level 1 or have a good understanding of programming principles.
Participants will learn advanced features such as using arrays, creating customized dialog boxes, and implementing error handling.
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
A half-day workshop teaching how to integrate Python's power with IDEA. Since version 10.3, IDEA includes Python integration for performing custom analyses. This course covers three methods of integration: custom functions, converting IDEAScript code, and custom Python programming using the IDEALib.py module. Note: This is not a Python course and assumes a basic understanding of Python code and script execution.
A one-day course designed to refresh long-term IDEA users and those who have received necessary training but
wish to be better prepared for the Certified IDEA Data Analyst (CIDA) exam. The course uses a case study approach
to cover most of IDEA's core functionalities, focusing on the content and style of the CIDA exam.
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
A half-day course providing an overview of statistical sampling in IDEA.
Introduces tools used for Attribute Sampling and Monetary Unit Sampling using IDEA's features.
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
A half-day course offering an overview of tools used in IDEA to identify trends and project future values.
These tools can be used as part of a continuous monitoring procedure.
A half-day workshop providing an in-depth overview of data analysis functionality within the platform, including indexing, summarizing, joining, and filtering. Participants will import and perform data verification and basic analysis of a general ledger file. Accounts Receivable files will be aged and evaluated against an Accounts Receivable credit limit file. Navigation, visualization capabilities, and online resources of IDEA will also be covered.
A half-day workshop providing experienced IDEA users with advanced knowledge of importing print reports and PDF files into IDEA using the Report Reader, as well as working with challenging Excel and delimited text files. Participants will practice working with multi-line layers and fields, floating traps, headers, and footers.
A half-day course for experienced users wishing to expand their knowledge of using IDEA @Functions and embedded equations to solve complex testing procedures. Participants will learn to use a series of IDEA @Functions to transform date fields, extract multiple values from a field, clean data to enhance testing, retrieve records containing specific words or phrases, and work with multiple conditions without embedding @if statements.
A half-day course for intermediate IDEA users who interact with raw data from various sources and platforms and need to blend data to provide in-depth analysis. Focuses on importing PDF files for data validation and using built-in IDEA analyses with @Functions. Emphasizes the importance of data preparation and cleansing in the data.
Analyzing Travel and Entertainment Expenses in IDEA is a half-day workshop that covers the entire T&E process from start to finish, including how to work with key stakeholders, build recovery processes, model abusive behaviors, and execute test procedures. Travel and entertainment expenses are a critical focus of proactive fraud audits and can lead to significant recoveries and the identification of potential losses. From fraud and abuse to clerical errors and loss prevention, this course will take you from beginner to expert in analyzing T&E expenses using IDEA.
Analyzing Accounts Payable in IDEA is a half-day workshop that guides participants through their role as an auditor hired to conduct an Accounts Payable audit and investigate potential fraud. The auditor assesses business and audit risks associated with Accounts Payable and then reviews potential tests that can be used to address these risks. The case study includes reviewing the use of IDEA to import data files, profile payments, extract unusual transactions, apply Benford’s Law, merge data files, and much more. This course uses the Accounts Payable case study from the IDEA Data Analysis Workbook.
Analyzing Accounts Receivable in IDEA is a half-day workshop that guides participants through an Accounts Receivable audit. The auditor assesses business and audit risks associated with Accounts Receivable and then reviews potential tests that can be used to address these risks. This training demonstrates the use of IDEA for verifying totals, sampling, aging, identifying unusual AR transactions, and recalculating transactions. The course uses the Accounts Receivable case study from the IDEA Data Analysis Workbook.
Analyzing Inventory in IDEA is a half-day workshop that guides participants through an inventory review. The auditor assesses business and audit risks associated with inventory and then reviews potential tests that can be used to address these risks. This case study includes audit tests to reconcile total inventory values, check the adequacy and accuracy of inventory, evaluate the reorder system, and analyze profit margins and pricing. The course uses the Inventory Analysis case study from the IDEA Data Analysis Workbook.
